SPRING 2012 * CEE 498KUC

Are you still looking for a course for Spring 2012? Are you currently conducting experimental research or hoping to do so in the future? If so, you may want to consider enrolling in CEE498kuc. In addition to learning the methods and tools of experimental research, students will have the opportunity to design, model, instrument, test, and analyze small scale structures. This hands-on 4 credit hour course also offers students access to the advanced testing equipment of the Newmark Structural Engineering Laboratory and the Illinois NEES MUST-SIM Facility. The course flyer provides additional details, contact information for inquiries, and photos of past tests performed through this course. (Prereq: CEE 360 or Instructor Approval)

Doctoral Program Assessment

Dear Faculty and Graduate Students,

As you know, during the past academic year the Graduate College conducted an assessment of all 98 doctoral programs on campus.  I attach the assessments for our doctoral programs in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering.  Our Environmental Science program was not assessed due to the small numbers.

You will see that the assessment has identified some areas in need of improvement.  I welcome your feedback.  The Graduate Affairs Committee will be discussing this next semester.

UIUC SOLAR DECATHLON Team Meeting * December 7, 2011, at 6:30 p.m.

My name is Dan Murray and I am a  member of UIUC's Solar Decathlon team. We returned this October from the competition in DC and we are looking to recruit a new team of engineers from departments across the engineering curriculum and from other schools across campus. The project has been a great experience for the students involved and we will be having an informational meeting this Wednesday at 6:30pm in Room 204 of the Agricultural Engineering Science Building. We are looking for undergrad and graduate students.
