The City of Champaign Public Works Department, Engineering Division is accepting letters of interest for four (4) Engineering Intern positions for the summer of 2012. Interns will assist engineering staff in the office and in the field on a wide variety of City engineering services including, construction site inspections, infrastructure mapping and GIS/data management projects.
These positions are intended to be a learning opportunity for college students in engineering, engineering or construction technology, architecture, geographical information systems (GIS) or a related field, while also providing the student with valuable work experience resume' building material. Possession of a valid IL drivers license by the date of employment is required. Experience using automated drafting and/or GIS/database software programs, and practical experience related to engineering, construction, or other public works functions, are desired, but not required.
The beginning hourly salary is $8.25. Work hours are 40 hours/week + overtime as assigned.
Students should write a brief cover letter with resume' attached and turn the material in to us by March 9, 2012. We will review the letters and contact students for brief interviews the following week. We encourage referrals by faculty. We also encourage female and minority students to apply.
