As students are beginning to think about summer and fall courses at Parkland, I hope you will join me in encouraging all interested students to complete the Parkland Concurrent Enrollment form which includes the application procedure: http://provost.illinois.edu/programs/advising/ConcurrentEnrollment.html. Students apply as non-degree students, so they do NOT need to send in their ACT scores or official high school transcripts - but if they are planning to take a math course, they may need to submit valid ALEKS scores in addition to the required Academic History.
The relationship between Parkland and the University of Illinois has been in place for 50 years and works very well, but if Illinois students do not apply and get admitted, they will receive no special treatment (e.g. priority or rush processing so that they can register). They should just apply early in the case that they are even thinking of taking a course.
Tuition and registration deadlines follow:
Summer:
May 10th – Classes that start May 16th
June 7th – Classes that start June 13th
July 5th – Classes that start July 11th
Fall:
August 16th - Classes that start August 22
September 6th - Classes that start September 12
October 11th - Classes that begin October 17
I hold open office hours in Parkland's Counseling and Advising Office on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 - 1pm (on a walk-in basis) so feel free to have students see me with questions or concerns.
